TransPORT Launches New Comprehensive Website
TransPORT, The Heart of Illinois Regional Port District, has launched a brand new website at www.portdistrict.com This website makes it much easier to navigate through your questions about the Illinois River and provides one central location where people can learn more about Central Illinois logistics in general.
This new website is a great tool for businesses looking to locate in Central Illinois. If they have questions about the river, the railway or the roads, they’ll find the answers here. Visitors will find the latest logistics news, a catalog of available properties for development throughout the TransPORT region, detailed information on each county in the region, a listing of available incentives to locating in this region, and much more.
The Illinois River, a part of the Inland Waterway, plays a critical role in our regional infrastructure and economy by providing an efficient means of transportation for commerce. It connects us to the rest of the world, providing a vital highway for the import and export of life sustaining commodities like grains, coal and aggregates, chemicals, petroleum products and manufactured goods, among others. Nearly $23 billion worth of commodities travel on the Inland Waterway.

TransPORT (The Heart of Illinois Regional Port District) www.portdistrict.com covers 100 miles of the Illinois River from Marshall County in the North to Mason County in the South, encompassing Fulton, Marshall, Mason, Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford counties. TransPORT is a powerful economic development tool, with the primary benefit being the creation of industrial and transportation employment for the region, stimulating the growth of intermodal logistics and industrial maritime development in the region and the state.
